I am new to the games

Q: Do I have to qualify in something to be eligible to enter the Indiana State Games?
A: No, you do not have to qualify to participate in the annual Indiana State Games. In order to participate, you must turn 50 years of age by December 31, 2022.

Q: How can I qualify for the 2023 National Senior Games?
A: This year, 2022 will be a qualification year. Indiana State Games is the only qualifying site in the state of Indiana.

Q: When will registration open for 2022 Indiana State Games?
A: Registration info will be sent out via email to all athletes signed up for the newsletter. Tentative registration will open end of January 2022.

Where are the 2022 Indiana State Games being held?

June 9-19, 2022 events include Archery*, Badminton*, Bowling*, Card Games & Chess, Celebration of Athlete Dinner, Cornhole*, Cross Country, Cycling*, Darts, Power Walking*, Race Walk*, Senior Arts, Shuffleboard*, Table Tennis*, Tennis*, Track & Field*, Skeet Shooting, Trivia NIght, & Urban Hike.
*Qualifying events for the 2023 National Senior Games to be held in Pittsburgh, PA.

Where do I register for the Indiana State Games?

Register ONLINE, download a paper form, and mail into P.O. Box 6334, Evansville, IN 47719. Registration closes June 1st for events June 9-19. Registration closes June 19 for Pickleball. Registration closes Sept 1st for Racquetball, Fitness Challenge, Basketball 3 on 3, Volleyball, and Golf.

 

Are the Indiana State Games the same as the Indiana Senior Games?

YES. The name has changed to Indiana State Games, but they are the same games as in years past called the Indiana Senior Games. Most events are for those aged 50+. Some events are open to masters ages 40-49.

 

Is there more than one qualifying site in Indiana?

NO. The Indiana State Games is the only qualifying event for Indiana. While there are other Senior Games in various cities, Indiana State Games - Fit and 50 is the only qualifying location in Indiana that will qualify an athlete for the National Senior Games to be held in Pittsburgh, PA in 2023. Dates have not yet been posted. THIS YEAR (2022) ARE QUALIFYING GAMES in Indiana for the 2023 National Senior Games.

 

Is there a paper registration form for the 2022 Indiana State Games?

Yes, there is a paper form you can fill out and mail in.

 

Can I send in photos of previous games?

Absolutely! With permission from participants in the photos, please send in your pictures.

 

What is your refund policy?

There are no refunds for the registration fees. If a refund is however approved, a minimum amount of $15 is not refundable due to expenses paid by Indiana State games upon every registration transaction.

 

What is your privacy policy?

What are your registration dates?

Registration will be available on February - June 1st for events June 9 - 19.

 

How much does it cost to register for the 2022 Indiana State Games?

  • The registration fee is $40 per participant which includes entry into unlimited events. Some additional sports fees apply and some sports pay additional to the facility onsite.

  • There is a $5.00 additional fee for several events that include: Cycling, Power Walk, Race Walk, Swimming, Track & Field.

  • There is a $10 additional fee for Pickleball and Trivia Night.

  • There is a $15 additional fee for the Fitness Challenge.

  • Some sporting events will have additional fees to be paid onsite/online for the event.*

How do I determine my age category?

Your age will be determined automatically during registration by your age as of December 31, 2022.
EXAMPLE #1: If a person will turn 50 in July 2022, but is still 49 at the May events, the athlete will be in the 50-54 age category. The person may only be 49 when competing.
EXAMPLE #2: If you are currently 54 and will still be 54 during the events, but you will turn 55 anytime in the 2022 year you will be in the 55 - 59 age category.

 

What are the age categories?

Age categories are in 5 year increments for individual events; 50-54, 55-59. 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, 100+. Team sports age categories determined by the youngest participant on the team; 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+. 75+ and 80+ 85+ (85+ Basketball Only).

NEW to the games: Participating ages 40-49 in events:
Archery, Card Games & Chess, Cornhole, Cross Country, Darts, Disc Golf, Golf, Senior Arts, Trapp Shooting, Trivia Night, Urban Hike, and all of the Recreation Day at the Park events.

 

Are there any events that Indiana State Games does not offer that are official qualifying events for the 2022 National Senior Games?

Yes, there are two events that Indiana does not offer: Indiana will not host Softball and Hammer Throw.

How do I qualify?

Persons that place in the top four of most individual sports in their age category and gender, will qualify for the 2023 National Senior Games to be held in Pittsburg, PA. An athlete that is not a resident of Indiana may participate in the Indiana State Games, however, they cannot displace an Indiana Athlete. The out-of-state athlete can qualify in Indiana as well as the in-state Athlete will qualify.

DETERMINING WHO QUALIFIES FOR NSGA
Indiana is an OPEN State

Qualifying games are responsible for determining qualifiers at their games and for advising the NSGA who has qualified. NSGA qualifying games that permit and encourage participation by out-of-state residents are classified by the NSGA as “open.” (Note: This should not be confused with “limited” events.)Each event allows for a specific number of qualifiers. If out-of-state residents qualify at an“Open” qualifying games, they will not take away a qualifying spot from a state resident.“Open” games may qualify the number of state residents specified for each event in addition to the out-of-state qualifiers. The NSGA definition of an athlete’s state of residence is that state in which the person resides for at least six months out of the year.
