ARCHERY
My parents were shooting when I was born and I have a patch from the 1958 Brown County Open. My parents were among the founders of Blackhawk Bowmen in the early 60’s in Yankeetown, Indiana. I began competing in 1963 and was the Indiana Field Archery Cub Champion (12 and under) in 1967. I continued to shoot until 1975 when I started college. After almost 40 years of not shooting, I returned to archery in 2014 shooting an Olympic Recurve. Since that time, I am the 2015 National Field Archery Champion and holder of the National Record for the Hunter Round in the Senior Division. I am the 2017, 60-64 defending National Senior Olympic Champion. I am a level 2 instructor and currently in the process of working with others to establish JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) in Southwestern Indiana.

BADMINTON
Terry and Linda Downey met at a badminton tournament in Toledo, Ohio in 1995. One year later they were married, started their life together, and began playing in badminton tournaments all over the country.
In 1997 Terry competed in his first National Senior Games in Tucson, Arizona. Linda first competed in the Nationals in Hampton Road, Virginia in 2003. Together they have participated in and won medals in five Nationals.
In 2003, they met Kristin Hood, and that began their love affair with badminton in the Indiana Senior Games. They have enjoyed working with everyone involved in the badminton tournament especially the seniors who have played. They are looking forward to seeing you on May 20, 2019, in Evansville.
Terry has left our earthly world and is at peace. Linda as a dedicated athlete and Badminton supporter continues as Badminton Coordinator.

DISC GOLF
John has been playing disc golf professionally for over 30 years but hasn't competed in a tournament for the last few years. In 2010, he also played in the Worlds, but unfortunately didn't win. The PDGA has different classifications for every age group and this year I moved to the "Legend" group as John will turn 70 next month. John helps to get the word out to increase participation in Disc Golf for the Indiana State Games 'senior' competition!

Gene was an assistant pro at the French Lick Golf facility before entering into the teaching profession teaching math, physical education, and coaching golf at Harrison High School where the girls won the state championship in the late 1980s.
Gene first participated in the National Senior Games in 2003 in Virginia, and has played in the National Senior Games in Pittsburgh, Louisville, Houston, and Cleveland, and plans on participating in the games in Albuquerque in the summer of 2019. SHUFFLEBOARD
Carl and Buffy Horstman Jr., both compete in the Indiana State Games in Bowling, Shuffleboard, and Horseshoes. They got started by taking Pop Sr. to Nationals in 1995 at San Antonio.
Carl was able to participate in bowling in Baton Rouge in 2001. Buffy followed at Virginia Beach in 2003. Although, Pop always labeled us "the kids".
Competing in the games we've met a lot of new friends, locally and throughout the country. It's now not about the competition but about seeing old friends again.
